Learn the Old Ways that Inspire
My Creations
My art is guided by something older than me, something more than a passing trend and deeper than any ‘technique’. It comes from the old ways, the ancient wisdom that has been passed down from generation to generation; the wisdom that speaks to our intuition, our energy and that guides our spiritual compass. It’s that invisible connection to all things.
I don’t plan what I’m about to create. I listen then I follow what I feel. My process is intuitive, shaped by a lifelong fascination with the old ways: the tarot, spellwork, manifestation, psychology, and a belief that energy connects us all, from humans to nature. I draw from my love of all things mystical and my need to also understand it from a scientific perspective.
I’m a bit of an oxymoron if I’m totally honest. I love the concept and the practices of witches and yet also love the insight gathered from quantum physics and neuroscience. To me, they make sense, as in, they’re not opposites, but different sides of the same universal truth: we are all made from cosmic energy (or dust, if you like) and we all have a purpose to serve humanity in one way or another.
What are the old ways?
The old ways are the practices that many lived by before we were told how to live, think, or fel; what was ‘right’ and what was ‘wrong’. Those societal norms that we all subjected to in modern society.
They include practices such as:
-
Speaking with the universe through symbols and signs
-
Honouring cycles of the moon, the seasons, and the self
-
Using rituals with fire, herbs, nature or simply words to move the energy
-
Trusting intuition as a source of wisdom
Creating (any type of art) as a sacred act of inner reflection - not just for beauty, but for perosnal meaning
None of these are about perfection, because we all know perfection doesn’t exist. They’re about creating a connection to the earth, to spirit and to our own inner knowing. These are the roots I establish to every time I get the urge to create.
Why do I let my Intuition lead?
Because I’v always been a senstive person. Maybe it’s because I’m a Pisces, with Scorpio rising (and Moon in cap to keep me grounded), or maybe it’s just how I was made, but regardless I don’t force my art to meaning something, I allow it’s message to rise within me.
Each piece starts with a quiet mind. I open myself to whatever energy wants to come through. I listen then I begin with the act of writing. It’s at this point I forge my affirmation spell based on the art I am inspired to create. It’s a practice of trust, of letting go and listening without needing to control the outcome - easier said than done at times in this world of chaos, but it’s the stillness that keeps me centred (and sane), without my art to channel my emotions, I think I would suffer. And in doing so, I let the art become a vessel for something much bigger than myself. Something to help others create a better life, as I too, eant to create a better life for me though me art.
This process is not just personal. It’s ancestral, it’s energetic and it’s spiritual. All the things that matter. To me and those who love and appriecate my work.
Bridging ancient wisdom and modern energy
While I honour the old ways, I’m also fascinated by more modern, and ever evolving understandings of the human mind and energy. Neuroscience tells us our thoughts carve out our neurological pathways and shape our brains (as well as our reality). Quantum physics shows that energy responds to observation. Psychology reveals that healing happens when we feel seen, safe, and whole.
To me, this is not separate from magic, it is magic.
When I create my spiritual art, I’d like to think I’m weaving both: ancient practices with modern day insights and theories, or as I like to put it, spellwork with frequency. Using visual symbolism can help with with subconscious healing. That’s what I believe gives each piece the power to speak directly to the soul.
Why would this matter to you?
If, like me, you’re on a spiritual journey, you may already feel the call to something deeper within. Maybe you’re returning to your own inner knowing or maybe you're learning to trust your intitive side even when you can't explain it. Maybe you're shedding the noise of the world and listening to your truth again, either way:
My art is made to support you, To remind you of your purpose, To reflect your inner worth back at you, To hold the energy of growth and change.
To return you, back to you! Because the old ways aren’t gone, they’re in us all, just waiting to be re-released. We just have to remember.
Love to you all, you got this! x
